Start Making Money Online with Projects

Everyone has a different way to learn but in the end, you still have to take action if you want to make money online.  There are many different ways to make money online.

Whether you are starting out for the first time or an old dog at this game, you need to create a system that will make money for you.  The best way to do this is to create projects.

The Project

The goals of your projects should be simple.

  • Find out what works.
  • Find out what does not work.

Obviously the goal of your project is to find out you will make money online or not.

If Your Project Does Not Work, Ditch It.

Give yourself 30 days to see if that project is for you or not.  Whether it is a free or something you have to pay for, you will either make money or not.  If you don’t make money and you know the project is not working, you have two choices.

  • Continue the project
  • Ditch it

This goes against the third princple of The Success FormulaBe persistent.

However…

If you do notice a significant increase, the odds are good that you have something going for you.  The question is whether it is making you money or not.

  • Did you break even?
  • Did you make more than you spend?
  • Did you spend more than you made?

Time is money.  Your time is your money.  Your project is your money.

Can You Do Better?

You need to find out what worked and what did not work.  If it did not work for you, you need to answer the question, can you do better?  If not, ditch it.

If you can do better, find out how you can improve on it.  If you can improve your formula, extend the project another 30 days and analyze the results.  If you end up spending more than you made in 60 days, ditch it.

If you end up breaking even, whether in 30 days or 60 days, then you know your formula is working but you need to do better because you want to make money.

Analyze the results and find out where you can trim your expenses with what is not working.  See what you can do better with what is working for you.

If you are making money, find out if you can improve your formula.  See if you can make more money.

This all goes back to the key principle all Internet marketers will tell you.

Test, test, AND TEST.

In a way, it is like playing baseball, three strikes and you are out.  Send your project up to the plate, find out what your project is capable of.  They will either foul out, strike out, walk, get a base hit, a double or a triple, or hit a home run.

Of course, you could always get beaned by the pitcher and an automatic free ride to first base.  (That is, if you don’t rush to kill the pitcher.)

But you still have to cross the home plate to call your project a success.

Thanks, James. Delivering newspapers in the wee hours of the morning is a wee bit punishing. I have done that before in Denver. Quit that gig after a week. It was smack dab in the dead of the winter. I do agree with you on the 60 to 90 days time frame, especially for something that doesn’t cost money. For a project that does cost money, there’s a fine line somewhere. It has been my experience to set it up in a 30 day timeframe.

Thanks for commenting. Look forward to hearing from you again soon, James.

    Hi,
Great post. I would say to be a bit more tempered with the timeline to try out new things on the Web…if I had quit writing at 30 days because I’d only made $20 USD for about 100 hours of work, I would still be delivering newspapers part time from 02-0500 in the morning for money! :) 60-90 days seems to be the best timeframe (for things that don’t cost you money upfront) to me! Good article.
    Cheers,
    James
